Our story
Island Mind Specialist Clinic was founded by Dr. Wong Yim Chan after more than a decade practicing psychiatry, much of it within hospital and government service. That experience gave him a close-up view of how many people in Penang — adults and young people alike — struggled to access unhurried, specialist mental health care close to home.
Dr. Wong set out to build a practice that closes that gap: one with the clinical rigour of hospital-trained psychiatry, but the time and attentiveness of a private clinic. With a particular focus on child & adolescent psychiatry alongside general adult care, Island Mind Specialist Clinic was created so families in Georgetown wouldn't have to travel far, or wait long, to get the right support.
